If you’re visiting Iceland for the first time, then you definitely want to begin with what’s called the Golden Circle since it features three stunningly beautiful locations: an extremely powerful waterfall, a geyser which erupts frequently, and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The best part is that you can do the whole trip in a single day and makes incredible fodder for your Instagram feed!

In the land of fire and ice!
I am still reeling from my breathtaking trip to Iceland as I just could not seem to get enough of it. My dream is to visit every country in Europe and Iceland was basically one of the last countries I had planned to visit. However, COVID-19 changed my plans so drastically that I ended up visiting Iceland much sooner than I expected to. However, I do not regret it one bit!
The ‘little Paris’ – more than meets the eye!
Bucharest (where I spent most of my week) is totally worth visiting! Let’s be honest, it’s not the prettiest city in Europe but its culture, history and especially its people will catch your heart. For those with a passion for architecture, Bucharest is full of treasures.
The cool kid on the block!
Is Vilnius worth visiting? It sure is! There are a wide range of things to do in Vilnius for all visitors and it’s definitely a highlight of any trip to the Baltics. Despite being a city with a small population of just half a million, it’s extraordinarily welcoming. It’s the perfect place to get lost for a few days and a popular stop on the Baltic tour route.
Europe’s best kept secret!
I wanted to take a short weekend break and celebrate my birthday in style, and I could not have chosen a better spot than Riga, the capital city of Latvia. Despite being huge for its population, Riga still managed to punch well above its size due to its magnificent architecture, charm and food!
Finding love in North Macedonia!
My first trip to North Macedonia was in 2011 and since then I’ve been there TWELVE times! Of course, I’ve done plenty of sightseeing and know Skopje, the capital city of North Macedonia, like the back of my hand, but the reason I visited so many times was because I found love there! Not everlasting love, if that even exists, but love nonetheless! However, it was pretty steamy while it lasted!
At the crossroads of civilisations!
The capital of empires… The city that dominated continents… The cradle of civilisation… The meeting point of cultures and civilisations… These are some of the thousands of phrases that describe Istanbul. Yet neither words nor any amount of reading or listening are sufficient to truly describe and become familiar with the city.
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!
Nestled around the Baltic Sea, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia make up Europe’s stunning Baltic region. They’re some of the most beautiful countries in the world and are growing in popularity as tourist destinations each year, drawing more and more people to this northeastern corner of Europe than ever before.
The pros & cons of travelling solo: why it’s worth it on your own!
My own introduction to solo travelling was when I was still 19 years old. I was fascinated by the weather (and still am) and wanted to attend a week-long Understanding Weather course in the UK. This was in 1989, years before the advent of internet and mobile phones so all planning was done through good old-fashioned letters and perhaps the odd phone call or two!
Where Medieval Meets Modern!
Tucked in the northeast corner of Europe, Tallinn is a true hidden gem. Whether you visit in the summer high season or in the wintry cold, like I did, there are countless cool things to do in Estonia’s capital city. For me, two days was the perfect amount of time to get a good feel of Tallinn, but then I move fast. If you want to see the city at a slower pace, then I recommend at least three days.
