A hot air balloon ride in Marrakech is truly a bucket list experience and something you HAVE to do when visiting Morocco. A hot air balloon ride is one of the most serene, even romantic activities that a traveller can participate in. It immerses you into a different level of perspective that will leave you breathless and in awe. It’s a truly memorable experience as you soar over the foothills of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains on a sunrise hot air balloon ride before touching down for a freshly prepared Berber breakfast.

Paradise found!
A lot of people imagine Morocco to be a vast barren desert. However, high in the Atlas Mountains after passing through Berber villages and beautiful scenery is the Ouzoud Falls, the second highest waterfall in Africa and one of the most visited and photographed natural sites in Morocco!
Much more than a desert!
Who has never dreamed of sleeping in the Sahara cosily nestled between sand dunes while looking at the stars? The desert has always inspired me and when I was young, I often imagined myself riding camels between the sand dunes of some faraway country. I dreamt of sleeping under the stars in the desert while drinking tea next to a campfire.
No Monday blues here!
If you’ve ever gone on Pinterest or Instagram, then you know about Morocco’s famous blue city, Chefchaouen, nicknamed the “blue pearl of Morocco.” The entirety of the small city is painted in vivid shades of blue, and, really, it has to be seen to be believed (because yes, it’s even more dazzling than Instagram makes it appear). When when it comes to Chefchaouen, Chaouen for short, it really is no exaggeration to say that every street and alleyway is majestic. Wandering through them, you’ll find that taking a bad photo or forgetting to feel in awe is an impossibility.
Welcoming, colourful & delicious!
I decided to visit Morocco mainly because I had become desperate to travel somewhere (anywhere, really!) after all my plans to visit European destinations went out of the window due to Covid-19 restrictions and lockdowns! So out of exasperation and sheer curiosity, I booked a tour to Morocco through Take a Break Travel. However, I do not regret doing so as the moment I arrived I was charmed by the immense cultural richness of the country. It felt like I was travelling in an uncontrolled mix of North Africa, Spain, Portugal, and France. I was thrilled!
For the love of castles!
I don’t know about you, but I was always obsessed with fairytale castles. Whenever I’m visiting a new destination I always look for castles as there is just something magical about them! Anywhere I travel, I seek out castles to have a look at. I’m not sure I can pinpoint the moment it started but I have always been fascinated by them.
The magic of Christmas Markets!
I just love Christmas Markets. Not per se to shop for handmade Christmas ornaments or other Christmas related knick-knacks, but just the atmosphere and the joy of the Christmas lights.
Tranquillity in the midst of chaos!
I live in a country that, unfortunately, is more interested in building rabbit hutch style apartments than creating open green spaces for the physical and mental health of its population. I am therefore always jealous and in awe whenever I visit any large city in Europe.
For the love of waterfalls!
Whenever I hear the word waterfall, I feel butterflies in my stomach, my eyes get a little bigger, my heart beats a little faster, and my smile gets a little wider… much like falling in love. I am always amazed by how beautiful a waterfall is. Really, I find it so magical and it mesmerizes me big time!
