Abu Dhabi is often overshadowed by Dubai, yet it offers a calmer and more cultural introduction to the UAE. Staying with my friend Gokul, who has lived here for five years, transformed the experience into something more personal. I saw not just attractions, but daily life, community and how people build a home far from where they were born. This is a city made for more than a stopover.
In February 2026, I found myself trading the familiar chill of winter for the warmth of Abu Dhabi. What began with a chance meeting over coffee at Yanar Dag in Azerbaijan grew into a week-long adventure across the Emirates. From the quiet beauty of Al Ain’s oasis to the vast silence of Liwa’s desert, and the towering ambition of Dubai, the trip was defined as much by the people I met as the landscapes I explored. Staying with a friend I had only known briefly brought a perspective on life abroad that rivalled any guidebook, while the open roads reminded me of the freedom of travel and the unexpected ways a journey can change you.
I don’t know about you, but I was always obsessed with fairytale castles. Whenever I’m visiting a new destination I always look for castles as there is just something magical about them! Anywhere I travel, I seek out castles to have a look at. I’m not sure I can pinpoint the moment it started but I have always been fascinated by them.
Kiev is a super cool city with lots to see. It is very old and has interesting history, delicious food, amazing cafes and restaurants, so whatever your interest is, you will definitely find something to love here. There are so many reasons to visit Kiev, from amazing architecture to interesting history and vibrant atmosphere and each of them is already a good excuse to plan your trip to the capital of Ukraine.
Located a couple of hours north of Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik, lies the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. It is often referred to as Iceland en miniature or mini Iceland since it contains so many different landscapes you encounter all around Iceland and makes a great road trip for those travellers unable to take a week and drive the full Ring Road around the island.
Bucharest (where I spent most of my week) is totally worth visiting! Let’s be honest, it’s not the prettiest city in Europe but its culture, history and especially its people will catch your heart. For those with a passion for architecture, Bucharest is full of treasures.
