Travelling from the shores of the Caspian to the snowy Caucasus, a week in Azerbaijan offered a glimpse of a country balancing modern ambition with deep-rooted tradition. For a Maltese visitor, it proved both unfamiliar and oddly relatable — a land where fire still burns from the ground, tea is shared with strangers, and the road between Baku and Sheki feels like a journey across worlds.
